EU Imposes Sanctions on Israeli Settler Groups Over Alleged West Bank Abuses
The measures, adopted under the EU Global Human Rights Sanctions Regime following a prior political agreement among EU foreign ministers, include restrictions on four settler-related organizations as well as three individuals.
Among those affected is the Nachala Settlement Movement and its director Daniella Weiss. The EU said the organization promotes and facilitates actions that contribute to the displacement of Palestinians, including the establishment of outposts that limit access to agricultural and grazing land and are linked to repeated incidents of settler violence.
Another sanctioned entity is the Israeli NGO Regavim and its director Meir Deutsch. The EU accused the group of advocating for the demolition of Palestinian property and supporting efforts to expand Israeli administrative and territorial control across the West Bank. It also cited the organization’s involvement in campaigns targeting an EU-funded Palestinian school near Bethlehem.
The sanctions further include Hashomer Yosh and its president Avichai Suissa. According to EU assessments, the group coordinated volunteer activity and provided backing for settlement outposts allegedly associated with violence, including recruiting individuals involved in attacks against Palestinians.
Also included in the sanctions list is the Amana cooperative association, which has historical ties to the Gush Emunim settler movement.
The EU stated that these measures are part of its broader framework aimed at addressing human rights abuses globally and ensuring accountability for actions deemed to contribute to forced displacement and instability in the occupied territories.
